Nonograms
Reveal the hidden picture from the row and column number clues.
How to play
- Each clue lists, in order, the lengths of the filled runs in that line, with at least one empty cell between runs.
- Fill cells that must be filled; mark X on cells you've ruled out.
- Finish the grid to reveal the picture.
Controls
- Tap to fill, long-press / second tool to mark X.
Techniques
Overlap fill
When a clue nearly fills its line, its possible positions overlap: a 7 in a 10-wide row always covers the middle four cells. Fill the overlap without knowing the exact position.
Edge anchoring
A filled cell touching the border pins its whole run: the 3 must extend exactly three from the wall โ fill it and X the cell after.
X the impossible gaps
Gaps shorter than the smallest remaining clue can never hold a run. X them out โ every X sharpens the other lines' overlaps.
Example
3 1 โ โ โ โ ยท โ
The clue โ3 1โ means a run of 3, a gap, then a run of 1.
Tip ยท Start with the lines whose clues nearly fill them, then cross-reference.
